Buying from the farm, not from the market
Kushtia sits in one of the more productive agricultural belts in Bangladesh. Rice, lentils, sugarcane and vegetables come off the land around here in volume, and cattle rearing is a serious business in the villages surrounding Ujangram and Bittipara.
Our agro division exists because we are already here. We buy directly from farmers we deal with year after year, which cuts out a layer of middlemen and — more importantly — means we know the condition of what we are selling you. When a buyer in Dhaka asks us about an animal, we are not reading a listing. We have seen it.
Cattle and goats
We supply cattle and goats to butchers, traders, hotels, caterers and families. Every animal is inspected before we buy it: age, weight, physical condition and how it has been fed. We will tell you what we think of an animal, including when we think you should look at a different one.
Qurbani supply
The weeks before Eid al-Adha are the busiest of our year, and they are also when the market works against the buyer. Prices climb steeply in the last two weeks and the better animals are gone early. The advice we give every customer is the same and it is not a sales tactic: book early. If you reserve well ahead, we can secure a better animal at a calmer price and hold it until the date, feeding and caring for it in the meantime.
Buying for a group? Shared Qurbani — several families dividing one animal — is straightforward to arrange, and we can help with the practical side of splitting and distributing. Let us know the number of shares when you enquire.
Fish
Farmed freshwater fish from ponds in the district, sold fresh rather than frozen. We collect on the morning of dispatch, ice it properly, and move it overnight on our own vehicles so it arrives in the condition it left in.
We are direct about the limits here. Fresh fish is a distance-sensitive product, and there are destinations where we will tell you not to bother. That conversation is better had before you order.
Fresh vegetables
Seasonal produce in wholesale quantity, graded before it is loaded. What is available changes through the year — that is the nature of the crop, and any supplier who tells you otherwise is buying from a cold store somewhere.
| Category | What we supply | Typical buyers |
|---|---|---|
| Livestock | Cattle and goats, inspected and weighed | Butchers, traders, families, caterers |
| Fish | Farmed freshwater fish, iced fresh | Wholesale markets, hotels, restaurants |
| Vegetables | Seasonal produce, graded, wholesale volume | Traders, caterers, exporters, institutions |
Feeding into our other divisions
Two things follow naturally from this division. Delivery runs on our own transport fleet, which is why we can commit to a date rather than hoping a hired truck turns up. And where a buyer overseas wants Bangladeshi produce, our export division takes it from there — grading, packing, phytosanitary certification and shipment.
If you are an exporter looking for a reliable local sourcing partner rather than a one-off purchase, that is a conversation worth having properly. Call and ask for the agro desk.
